The following are some questions that during your appointment should be asked and answered to your satisfaction.
Most photographers will supply information as part of their presentation, but be sure to ask all the questions you want. How long have you been photographing weddings and do you do this full time?
Photographers who only moonlight or have another full time job have much less to lose if a couple should be unhappy.
His or her livelihood and reputation are not controlled by their photographic income or services they deliver.
The equipment they may use, such as; cameras, film types, and how images are processed and printed may be inferior to full time photographers who invest in professional gear and professional printing labs. How many weddings do you book per day?
A couple's wedding photography should represent the story of their day.
A photographer who takes more than one event per day can not provide that type of coverage. Who will actually photograph our wedding?
In today's photography market, some studios employ several photographers per date in order to have multiple bookings.
Be careful that you're interviewing the photographer(s) who will be capturing your day as well as viewing their images & albums.
You may be viewing more than one photographers work from the studio's staff. Do you belong to any professional organizations?
Although there are many professionals who do not belong to any associations, usually these organizations have some formal recognition and professional requirements as well as a code of ethics. Do you carry wedding albums?
Most professional photographers carry exclusive album lines that are not available to the general public.
They may offer more than one line of professional albums. Do you dress appropriately?
You may laugh, but we had a couple say they saw a photographer at a wedding in sweats! How often do we meet to go over wedding details? As often as you need to feel comfortable, but you should expect to meet at least a month before your wedding date to go over any last minute details. This includes visiting any locations that the couple or photographer(s) are not familiar with as well as prepare a timeline of the day's scheduled events.
